Healing House Part Two: Back to Basics

April 24, 2018

In Part One of this series I highlight the ways in which we can start to create a space for healing by making small shifts in our day to day lives. Being conscious of our spaces and the intricate ways in which they are woven into our lives is the first step. Getting clear on the primary functions of our space and how we want the spaces to support us, is also included in Part One which you can read here. Now we move into Part Two where we will start to build the foundation for creating a space …

Supportive Spaces: using our spaces to support our new year goals

February 2, 2018

We are moving on into February and last month for many, including myself, was all about the goal setting. Whether you have had four weeks of solid success and are mastering those new habits, or are still getting clear on what you want to work towards, becoming conscious of our space and how it can support us through these changes, can really set the tone for what’s to come. Whatever the new goals, change can be challenging so just as important as the goal itself, is the support required to …

Soulful Space: creating spaces all our own

November 15, 2017

I admit with no shame what-so-ever that I will pick up my Style at Home magazine each month and just swoon over the curated spaces that flood the glossy pages. It takes everything in me not to tear pages out, pin them up and go crazy trying to duplicate the looks. I am making a huge assumption here but I am guessing I am not alone… It can be so tempting to want to follow the newest trends or create our spaces based on ones we see on Pinterest or Instagram. I am guilty of this to the worst …

I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask for! They know I do things differently and they embrace my concepts but most importantly, it helps them and I couldn’t ask for anything more. If you feel like popping over and giving me a vote, the link is in bio. Nominated for best Interior Decorator this year and I sure do appreciate the love 💕

⁣ ⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthie ⁣
⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthier state of mind. Simpler things bring us joy. We want less and are more at peace when we get it. We sleep better and work harder. When we observe our immediate surroundings, we are more grounded in our context and more attuned to the rhythms of whatever season or home we are in. ⁣

⁣Our environments are a reflection of our behaviours. Good or bad. They also reflect how we think, feel and what we believe. They determine how we eat, dress, move, work, sleep and relate. They are an intricate part of who we are and how we live. We can also shift and change them to support us in creating new habits, patterns and behaviours and alter our thoughts, feelings and relationships. ⁣

⁣Have a look around, does your space support the life you are trying to create? If not, consider how changing something in your environment could potentially change something inside yourself. We get one life, let’s design it to look and feel the way we want it to. #designpsychology #spacematters

⁣Monday is cleaning day in our house. I used to feel guilty for not being in the office first thing Monday morning but I’ve realized how important it is for my space to be clean and in order before I can focus on anything else for the week. A huge challenge with working from home has been the endless household to-do list that can so easily distract me from being productive. Who can relate? So, I have a dedicated day to get it all done so I can focus during the week and still have the weekend to rest and relax. ⁣

⁣Using my space to support me has been my greatest energy-saving life hack while working from home. Our spaces can drain our energy or they can give us life. It all depends on how we take care of them. Take care of your home and it will take care of you. #designpsychology #spacematters
