Dear Dad: 6 things I learned from my Daddy

June 18, 2017

Dear Dad, Happy Father’s Day! We have celebrated this day as Daddy/daughter for 32 years! Can you believe that?! As the years pass and I get older (and you wiser!), my appreciation for you grows immensely. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of you, learn something from you, use a skill you taught me or need you for something. I cannot count the times in one single day that I am reminded of, and then grateful for, my Daddy. So, in honour of today and you being so amazing and wise, here …

I mean, after all, she was a Life Coach and she surely couldn’t be coaching people on life if hers wasn’t in perfect working order. HA! The first of many delusions I created in my head to make me more of a mess than most and compare my un-worthy self against all those who seemingly did life ‘right’. Even after years of working with her, I still secretly held this belief until I entered …

I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask for! They know I do things differently and they embrace my concepts but most importantly, it helps them and I couldn’t ask for anything more. If you feel like popping over and giving me a vote, the link is in bio. Nominated for best Interior Decorator this year and I sure do appreciate the love 💕

⁣ ⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthie ⁣
⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthier state of mind. Simpler things bring us joy. We want less and are more at peace when we get it. We sleep better and work harder. When we observe our immediate surroundings, we are more grounded in our context and more attuned to the rhythms of whatever season or home we are in. ⁣

⁣Our environments are a reflection of our behaviours. Good or bad. They also reflect how we think, feel and what we believe. They determine how we eat, dress, move, work, sleep and relate. They are an intricate part of who we are and how we live. We can also shift and change them to support us in creating new habits, patterns and behaviours and alter our thoughts, feelings and relationships. ⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣Have a look around, does your space support the life you are trying to create? If not, consider how changing something in your environment could potentially change something inside yourself. We get one life, let’s design it to look and feel the way we want it to. #designpsychology #spacematters

⁣Monday is cleaning day in our house. I used to feel guilty for not being in the office first thing Monday morning but I’ve realized how important it is for my space to be clean and in order before I can focus on anything else for the week. A huge challenge with working from home has been the endless household to-do list that can so easily distract me from being productive. Who can relate? So, I have a dedicated day to get it all done so I can focus during the week and still have the weekend to rest and relax. ⁣

⁣Using my space to support me has been my greatest energy-saving life hack while working from home. Our spaces can drain our energy or they can give us life. It all depends on how we take care of them. Take care of your home and it will take care of you. #designpsychology #spacematters
