Changing Space: 5 tips for staying grounded through big life change

August 9, 2017

Change is inevitable. In fact, it is the only thing we can ever really guarantee for sure. Throughout our life, we will all experience change in a variety of ways. Big changes, small daily changes, and sometimes, multiple changes at the same time. Part of what makes us grow, is how we handle the changes presented to us, and the change we consciously choose. Part of life is making large choices and changes that ultimately impact our life on a bigger scale, what we might call ‘big life …

Healing Home Series Part One: Creating a healing home

July 28, 2017

Our homes are the primary foundation from which we live our lives and creating a healthy place to launch from, is vital. As we moved through the world and gained knowledge and experience, we were also exposed to psychological conditioning from society, our peers, our families and our environments. In addition to thriving with what we were taught from a healthy place, we also learned to cope with the conditioning that was not so serving, and sometimes not in the healthiest of ways. Our …

Inside Space: Clearing the mental & emotional clutter

June 19, 2017

It is still spring-cleaning month here at Chez/Cher Duyzer (see what I did there?!) and while I am still on my spring-cleaning kick, I want to make sure I tend to every area in my life. I say often that clutter is much more than physical. We can experience the impact of clutter not only in physical form, but also mentally, spiritually and emotionally as well, so I wanted to tackle those areas too. By using the holistic wellness quadrant approach, we can look at each of these areas …

I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask I truly do have the best clients a girl could ask for! They know I do things differently and they embrace my concepts but most importantly, it helps them and I couldn’t ask for anything more. If you feel like popping over and giving me a vote, the link is in bio. Nominated for best Interior Decorator this year and I sure do appreciate the love 💕

⁣ ⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthie ⁣
⁣The time we spend idle makes for a healthier state of mind. Simpler things bring us joy. We want less and are more at peace when we get it. We sleep better and work harder. When we observe our immediate surroundings, we are more grounded in our context and more attuned to the rhythms of whatever season or home we are in. ⁣

⁣Our environments are a reflection of our behaviours. Good or bad. They also reflect how we think, feel and what we believe. They determine how we eat, dress, move, work, sleep and relate. They are an intricate part of who we are and how we live. We can also shift and change them to support us in creating new habits, patterns and behaviours and alter our thoughts, feelings and relationships. ⁣
⁣
⁣
⁣Have a look around, does your space support the life you are trying to create? If not, consider how changing something in your environment could potentially change something inside yourself. We get one life, let’s design it to look and feel the way we want it to. #designpsychology #spacematters

⁣Monday is cleaning day in our house. I used to feel guilty for not being in the office first thing Monday morning but I’ve realized how important it is for my space to be clean and in order before I can focus on anything else for the week. A huge challenge with working from home has been the endless household to-do list that can so easily distract me from being productive. Who can relate? So, I have a dedicated day to get it all done so I can focus during the week and still have the weekend to rest and relax. ⁣

⁣
⁣Using my space to support me has been my greatest energy-saving life hack while working from home. Our spaces can drain our energy or they can give us life. It all depends on how we take care of them. Take care of your home and it will take care of you. #designpsychology #spacematters
