Our homes are the primary foundation from which we live our lives and creating a healthy place to launch from, is vital.
As we moved through the world and gained knowledge and experience, we were also exposed to psychological conditioning from society, our peers, our families and our environments. In addition to thriving with what we were taught from a healthy place, we also learned to cope with the conditioning that was not so serving, and sometimes not in the healthiest of ways.
Our emotions act as important indicators of information and not always do we pay attention to them. Sometimes, it’s easier to just stuff them down to the bottom, shelf them, or forget about them all together but the truth is, they really don’t go away until they are dealt with, and expressed.
Therefore, we all have the opportunity to heal parts of ourselves and our pasts that we may not even know need healing. And the basis for this type of work, can start at home.
Here are a few ways you can start to create a healing home, and one in which you can grow your self-awareness skills and increase your overall consciousness. As there is a lot of information to share, I will do so in a 5-part blog series. Be sure to check back for the release of Part 2.
Through awareness of our space, we can gain awareness of ourselves. We can begin to understand what we truly want and what’s holding us back.
5 Starter Tips for Creating a Healing Home
ENERGY FLOW – first things first, let the life in. Pull back the curtains, open the windows, prop open the doors and let the life. Our space is a living, breathing entity that lives and moves as we do. If we don’t breathe life into the space, it will not be able to breathe life into us. Consciously and with intention, visit every room in your home and give it your energy and love. It will come to life right before your eyes, I promise!
CLEAN UP – this looks different for everyone depending on how you live, but get rid of the yuck. Dirty dishes, moldy food and dust are not only unpleasant to the eye, they are bad for your health. Wash the bedsheets frequently, vacuum the carpets and keep your pantry items fresh. This will not only encourage you to cook more (read my conscious kitchen blog here), but you will be less likely to prepare expired food. Living in a clean environment is a large part of clean living.
GET CLEAR – how do you want your space to serve you and does it currently support your vision? If not, get working on getting clear. Where in your life would you like to start or continue your healing process? Is there a specific issue in your life that you would like to address? If so, there will also be a space that hinders/supports that issue, where is that? How does that space make you feel? How can you make changes? By starting to become aware of areas in your life that could use healing, you can then start to identify the things in your life that are either supporting that goal, or driving you further away from it. Without fail, the environments you spend time in will always be a part of this process.
TAKE ACTION – now that you’re clear, start to make a plan. What changes can you make to your space, big or small, that can assist with supporting you in your healing goals? Not sure? Perhaps start with one of the steps mentioned above. Clean, organize or just move some items around within the space to shake things up. Even with the smallest of actions, you will notice a difference.
BE GRATEFUL – for the space and the items in it. They make up parts of who we are and how we live and deserve appreciation and recognition for the way they support us. Maybe we want a bigger space, a better space; we all could fall into that thinking, however, when we are grateful for where we are at now, life is so much sweeter.
By consciously examining how our space supports our lives, we can start to make changes that are more aligned with how we want to live. Creating a conscious and healing home on the outside, is such a beautiful support for healing and transformation to occur on the inside.
Live well,
